Super Duper Superdrug

There is often the misconception that being vegan must be expensive but it’s easy enough to keep your oxters fresh and clean without costing the earth.

With plant-based lifestyles gaining a much higher profile in recent years many high street shops have been taking note. One of my favourites is Superdrug. They sell vegan shampoos, anti-perspirants, toothpastes, bath and shower gels /creams, facial lotions and potions etc etc etc. Most of these products are very reasonably priced and Superdrug regularly have special offers.

Scotland can be a harsh place in autumn and winter but with their skincare ranges for both men and women, we can all slap it on.

When I was in there last weekend I noticed vegan labels have been placed directly underneath many products so they’re now really easy to identify. It’s such a relief not having to read all the ingredients on the back like a complete nerd.

They even have their own cosmetic brand called B.

And there’s no need to look like a panda or The Cure’s Robert Smith on a bad day.

Don’t step on my blue (faux) suede shoes

There is a huge variety of fashionable vegan footwear available for all types of weather. This is especially important for life in Scotland where we can experience all four seasons in the space of an afternoon. Top of the footy game is Avesu. Nearer (and cheaper) to home, many high street shops have introduced vegan filters on their websites, which makes this business a whole lot easier.

Made from a variety of materials, including fake leather, Rooting Aboot purchased a pair of stomping winter boots from Schuh a couple of years ago. No Glaswegian puddle can defeat me now, and they reach some deepness, I can tell you. Schuh vegan can be found here:

A company called Po-Zu even sell Star Wars inspired shoes…but apparently only to Jedis. Can you feel the Force?

Smelling Lovely

Nobody enjoys being a fusty thing and I’m always impressed if someone creates a pleasant waft as they pass by. Luckily a shop in Brighton makes vegan perfumes that are very similar to designer brands, but without the nasties in them.

My rating of Eden Perfumes: They have a huge choice of perfumes, aftershaves and unisex varieties that come really close to the original designer brands. It’s decently priced. Their website is easy to use and Rooting Aboot has never experienced any problems with ordering online or deliveries. On a recent trip to Brighton, Rooting Aboot was delighted to chat to the owner of Eden Perfumes in his beautiful shop. I had a right good sniff (not of him, obviously).
